INSTRUCTIONS FOR LISTING AN ITEM FOR SALE OR CREATING A BUSINESS PROFILE ON YOUR MARKET PLACE

Welcome to Your Market Place. To list items for sale on Your Local Buy and Sale, or create a business profile for your business on Your local businesses, you first need to sign up and register your details.


Signing Up for Your Market Place

1. Click on ‘Sign up’ at the top of our homepage.

2. Click on the ‘Sign up’ TAB at the top of the screen.

3. Complete your details and hit ‘Sign up’.

4. Congratulations, you’re done! You can now select Your local buy and sell (to list items for sale) or Your local businesses (to create a business profile).

From now on, when you would like to list items for sale or create/update your business profile, just click on ‘My Profile’ and then ‘Sign in’.

If you experience any trouble completing your details when signing up, please note that you can click on the yellow sticky note for an alternative way of registering.

Listing items for sale on Your local buy and sell

If you have already signed up, you just need to click on ‘My Profile’, and then the ‘Sign in’ tab. Once you have signed in, click on Your local buy and sell. You’re ready to start.

1. Click on ‘Add Another Item’, located to the right of the table . You MUST click this button before you start, or you won’t be able to save your information!

2. Enter your information – price, condition, title, and description.

3. Enter a community organisation you’d like to support, and the category for your listing. To select a category, just click on the grey arrow at the left hand side of the category heading.

4. Click on ‘Save’.

5. You can also add photos – just click on the ‘Your Sale Item Photos’ tab, at the top left of the page. Photos need to be a JPEG file.

You’ll soon be able to choose from a range of paid extras to help sell your item and the community group you selected will receive your fees. The only deduction is for GST and paypal.

To update an item for sale, highlight the item in the ‘Sale Items Table’, make your amendments, and then hit the ‘Update’ button.

To delete an item for sale, highlight the item in the ‘Sale Items Table’, and then hit the ‘Delete’ button.


Creating a business profile on Your Market Place

If you have already signed up, click on ‘My Profile’, and then the ‘Sign in’ tab. Once you have signed in, click on Your local businesses. You’re ready to start.

1. Click on ‘Add Another Business’ button, located to the right of the table. You MUST click on this button before you start, or you won’t be able to save your information!

2. Below the table under the ‘Description’ tab, enter your business name, position line, description and key words.

   •   Your position line is like your logo, or leading line, to tell your customers what your business is about.
   •   Under Description, enter up to 500 words of text about your business.
   •   Your Key Words are important as they are the words that your customers are most likely to use when searching for your type of business. For example: if your business is a bakery, then you may include words such as bakery, pies, prepared meals, birthday cakes, catering, café, coffee, lunch, breakfast, and so on.

3. Click on the ‘Contact Details’ tab, below the Business Profiles Table, and enter your contact details.

4. Click on the ‘Postal’ tab, below the Business Profiles Table, and enter your postal details (if they are the same as your contact details, you can just tick the box).

5. Select your Business Category, by clicking on the grey arrow at the left hand side of the business categories (bottom right of screen), such as Your local businesses, Your local designer maker, Your local mini-stay.

You can now save your profile! That’s not all however – you can also upload your logo, add business photos, create advertisements, and list your businesses under additional categories.


Adding a logo

Click on ‘Your Logo’ tab, below the Business Profiles Table. Upload your logo (JPEG file).


Adding a product lists or menus

Click on ‘Your Uploads’ tab, below the Business Profiles Table. Upload your existing menu or product list (PDF file).


Adding Business Photos

Click on ‘Your Business Photos’, at the top left of the screen. Highlight the business in the table (on the left) and then upload your photos (JPEG files). You can delete and replace photos (don’t be concerned if they don’t appear to change on your screen – they will update when you sign out).


Adding Business Categories

Highlight your business in the table to the left. Then select your additional business categories (use Control click (Windows), Command click (Mac) for multiple selection) of business categories. Then ‘Update Additional Categories’.


Creating Your Advertisements

1. Under ‘Choose Your Ad’ tab, highlight your business in the table to the left. Then select an Ad Type, enter a description for your advertisement (such as: general ad, summer promotion) and select ‘Create Your Ad’.

2. Note that you can update or remove your ad from your list at any time by selecting ‘Update Your Ad’, or ‘Remove Ad from your Ad list’.

3. Click on ‘Set Up Your Ad’ tab, and highlight the ad in the table (bottom left). Go through the steps, taking care to save at each stage. You have the choice of:

   a.   uploading an ad that has been created for you by your graphic designer, or
   b.   using the ad builder to create an ad.

Note: If you are using the ad builder, then you can create up to 3 lines and images for your ad, which will rotate through your advertisement.

Note: When you schedule your ad, please note that ads start at the beginning of the calendar month, and run for the full month.

Note: When you upload JPEG photos for your ads, please be aware that they need to be 185px wide by 165px. If you need to resize your image, click on the links to Picnik or Picasa software.

4. Click on ‘Preview Your Ad’ tab, and highlight the ad in the table (bottom left). Click on ‘Preview My Ad’ and you will be able to see your ad.

5. Click on ‘Place Your Ad’ tab, and highlight the ad in the table (bottom left). Select the category for your advertisement by clicking on the grey arrow to the left of the ad categories. Click on ‘Set Ad Category’.

6. Click on ‘Buy Your Ad’ tab and highlight the ad in the table (bottom left). Click on the PayPal buy this ad button, and go through to Paypal. Please note that if you have any trouble (for example, if a blank page pops up, then close the page and you should go through to the PayPal site).
